The theme of the afternoon for our Enthuse visit by Westbourne on the 8th of June was "ratios". The science element was based on a challenge of which bottle of 3 was palatable to drink, 2 of the bottles were either acid or alkali and students made their own cabbage indicator to test the contents. Students were interested in how quickly the cabbage solution leached colour in to the water as it was heated. The students were successful in identifying the safe bottle. As students become used to the safety elements of the science lab after several rotations they are becoming more confident using hot equipment.

Moving on to Maths the students looked at the ratio of orange juice to water and had the chance to taste test to achieve the perfect mixture. Both challenges required accurate recording and taking responsibility for their own learning and the safety of themselves and others helping to develop good "Habits of minds".
